VALLEJO, Calif. Caltrans is completing another scheduled stretch of resurfacing along State Route 29, Sonoma Boulevard, affecting the corridor from Sequoia Avenue near the maritime academy to Mini Drive near the Solano–Napa county line. The department’s November 5 update lists Friday, November 6, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. as the final scheduled weekday work window in the current notice.
What should drivers expect?
Crews may close two travel lanes at a time, with one lane remaining open for traffic. While asphalt cures, some crossings may be temporarily unavailable for a few hours. The notice advises drivers to plan alternate routes and avoid narrow side streets that could become congested with detouring vehicles.
Rolling closures can also affect alleys, sidewalks and parking areas next to active grinding and paving. Construction can produce noise and vibration during working hours. Pedestrians who need assistance crossing a work area are asked to alert on-site workers.
When will the pavement be finished?
Caltrans says paving is expected to be complete by November 9, but the schedule is weather-dependent. Completion of scheduled paving does not necessarily mark the end of every project or maintenance activity on SR-29.
Motorists can check Caltrans QuickMap for live closures. The work is distinct from the recent I-80 Magazine Street trash-capture ramp project elsewhere in Vallejo.
