VALLEJO — November 2, 2026. Vallejo has launched a planning update for its waterfront that could ultimately allow approximately 2,300 new homes within the project area, according to the city’s official Specific Plan materials.
A new planning framework
The Waterfront Specific Plan would replace a 2005 development master plan, considering housing, mobility, infrastructure, environmental sustainability and connections to the regional ferry terminal.
What happened in September
On September 8, 2026, the City Council authorized consultants SITELAB and Stantec to work on the specific plan and environmental review. The city said the formal project would kick off in October.
Why this is not a 2,300-unit approval
The housing figure is a long-term potential capacity, not a building permit for 2,300 homes. Individual proposals still require land-use consistency, environmental review and applicable approvals.
